Guide Training Trip to Stuart Island

A glimpse of the trip!

I was really fortunate to get to go inside this traditional long house

on Jones Island. My boss used to work at the summer camp on Jones

Island and still knows most of the folks who run the place, so we got

a special look inside. It is all handmade from cedar. Beautiful.

A quick visit to Mt. Rainier!

Nate and I packed the Scoob for a little camping trip in Rainier National Park, but guess what? The campgrounds aren't open!!! Grrrrr...... And it's not like Montana where you can just pick a road and drive until it ends and camp there. For starters, there aren't many 'backroads' around here, and second, the backroads are ALL gated. So, we ended up spending a day in the park and going home. It was actually really nice to be home for the weekend and hang out in the yard in the sunshine before turning around and heading out on another big adventure!

Sheela is back!

We tried to do a cool looking loop hike at the base of the mountain (that peak is Rainier),

but it was so warm we were just sinking through the snow, so we picked a different hike.

If only we had our skis!!
