Summertime!

This summer has gotten away from me and I'm FINALLY getting around to posting photos.

Helen, me, Whit, and Jared Bean at the beach.

Sun behind the mountains in Dillon.

One of my mapping projects at field camp.

The Kamble Scramble. This costume was my attempt to distract people from noticing how bad at golfing I am. My dad said I looked like Mark Fennessey.

This is Allie's Lookout. It's not really a lookout, but it's modeled after one.

Ali is munchin' on the bow of Bruce's wooden boat.

Field Camp

I've been super busy every day at field camp. We've been out mapping every day and we have a lot to do every night. The country around here is beautiful. We've had a gorgeous view of the Pioneers at every field site. Everybody is exhausted and everything has become very silly. We do whatever it takes to make it through the day.

Geology Club in Libby on Easter Weekend

Geo Club had a blast on the mine tour and at the Kootenai Falls. Oh, the camaraderie wasn't too shabby either. :)

Loaded on the bus and ready to go inside the mine.

Jules and Erin :)

Eatin' lunch.

Dear government,

If you would have given the money you are giving to the military to the schools, we would have found a way for there to be world peace by now. Then, the military wouldn't be needed...

Sincerely, anonymous.

Spring Break

I went with Whitney to her hometown, LaCenter, WA, (outside of Vancouver, WA) and we went to Portland, did a lot of nothing, which was very relaxing, and then set out on a backpacking adventure that was cut short due to an incredible amount of snow and we lost our trail. We made the most of our extra time since the backpacking didn't work out. We spent a night with Whitney's friend in Richland, WA and then ended up in County 56 solely for the sake of Red Dog pizza and the use of my parents' hot tub to ease our sore muscles!

Multnomah Falls

The view from the Vista House

A sweet basalt wall on our hike.

Eating lunch on the trail.

These trees were thickly covered by moss. The photo doesn't capture the true color very well. We decided to call them Fairy Trees.

A sign! Too bad it was no help whatsoever in finding the trail.

Cooking dinner in the tent at the KOA. Helloooooo outdoors!

Geology Club trip to the Channeled Scablands

Caves at Lake Lenore. These caves were created by the massive flood waters plucking boulders from the walls of the coulee.

Doing what geologists do best: checking out the coolest rocks we can find.

Erin sampling the water at Soap Lake. Soap Lake is a very saline alkaline lake. Not very many critters swimming around there.

Come out of your cave walking on your hands, see the world hanging upside down.

Dry Falls: at the height of the Glacial Lake Missoula floods, there was 10 million cubic meters of water flowing through this area.

Snowhenge

The last of the snow scapes. It's getting springy here!
